Protecting the Olympics

The amphibious assault ship HMS Ocean is currently moored in Greenwich as part of the security operation that protects the Olympics. This massive ship is designed to deliver troops by helicopter or landing craft.

Built on the Clyde it was launched in October 1995 and commissioned in September 1998. I have no idea how it got through the Thames barrier.
